Programs: Family Strengthening Awards: Awardees

Detailed information will be provided to each winning program regarding its responsibilities. The following is an overview to assist applicants in determining the feasibility of fulfilling these requirements.

What you can expect from National 4–H Council:

  • A written agreement that outlines the responsibilities of the winner and the responsibilities of National 4–H Council.
  • Up to $1400 towards travel costs incurred for one person from each award program while attending the NAE4–HA meeting.
  • First award disbursement at the NAE4–HA meeting in Milwaukee, WI, the week of October 22, 2006.
  • Second disbursement upon the completion of best practices training or technical assistance within the Cooperative Extension System or with other youth serving partner agencies that promotes replication, development and/or innovation based on this award program. Deadline for completion of all actions is June 1, 2006.

What National 4–H Council expects of award winners:

  • Signature on the written agreement from National 4–H Council outlining the responsibilities of the winner and the responsibilities of National 4–H Council.
  • A commitment from at least one member representing each of the five award programs to attend the NAE4–HA meeting in Milwaukee, WI, the week of October 22, 2006, to receive recognition for this award.
  • Present, with other award-winners, about the award-winning program at a Seminar at NAE4–HA. Information will be shared both verbally and in a print or web-based format.
  • By November 1, 2005, complete the "Description of Annie E. Casey 4–H Family Strengthening Award Form " and return to National 4–H Council.
  • Awardees shall provide best practices training and/or technical assistance in at least five individual and unique settings, including the NAE4–HA Seminar, within the Cooperative Extension System. Technical assistance is defined as efforts to assist state and local 4–H programs in the adaptation/replication of successful family strengthening strategies. Efforts may include, but are not limited to, creation and dissemination of best practices reports either in print or web format, intensive workshops, conference calls, or videoconferencing presentations at regional or national events. This commitment must be completed by June 1, 2007.
  • A commitment to document best practices of the program and lessons learned in an educational format by June 1, 2007.
  • Periodic reporting to National 4–H Council that includes the actions, audiences, results, and expenditures associated with each best practices training and/or technical assistance activity subsequent to the NAE4–HA Seminar.
